Hair and Makeup

You have two options regarding makeup. Over the years I have worked with a wonderful makeup artist who will come to the studio and do your makeup for $150.00. However, many of my clients have gone to Sephora where she also works and have had their makeup done there and then come to the studio. She provides this service for $50.00. I think it's a great option. This way you can keep the price down and also have a trusted professional do your makeup. I can't speak highly enough about this young woman and the quality of her work.

P.S. She'll give you a small sample of lipstick for touch ups, and I have powder.

The studio has the basics for hair and makeup: blow dryer, curling iron, eye shadow, blush etc., but bring your favorite products or tools.

Clothing

The clothes you select for your shoot need to reflect you. Remember you are marketing yourself.  General rule is to stay away from bold prints, logos and baggy clothing.  Bring clothes that accentuate your body - no matter what your body type.   Women should make sure to bring a well fitting, appropriately colored bra.  A good starting place for wardrobe is a pair of jeans preferably not too faded and a pair of dark slacks.  For women one of these items can be replaced with a skirt.   Additionally, pack a selection of different tops.  I'll go over them with you when you arrive to help you make the strongest choices.  Jewelry should be avoided; if worn it should be minimal.

All clothes should be clean, pressed and ready to wear; I have an iron and a lint brush.

Preparation

The Headshots we will be creating are both expensive and time consuming. It's important that you take the time to prepare for them properly.

Here are a few suggestions:

Get plenty of rest the night before the shoot and avoid alcohol.

Allow extra of time getting to the studio so you don't arrive late and stressed.

If you exercise regularly you know the benefit to your mood. If possible do some exercise before your shoot.

Avoid the sun. Tanned faces look nice in person but don't photograph well.

Hair should be cut, but not too recently.

If hair is colored it should be done or retouched a week before the shoot.

Shape your eyebrows, but do not pluck or wax the day of the shoot as it could cause redness.

Men should arrive clean-shaven.  Unless you want to start with facial hair and shave midway through.  If you're going to shave at the studio bring your shaving gear.

Bring your favorite CDs or select from mine.
